Use this guide to enable its battery storage mode from the BIOS of the Steam Desk.
Before opening the Steam Desk for internal repairs, Valve recommends enabling battery storage mode to enhance safety and minimize the risk of equipment damage.
If you are turning on battery storage mode for long-term storage of your Steam Deck rather than for repair, please discharge (or charge) your battery to between 50-60% before turning on the mode.
Power off your Steam Deck
After the power is turned off, long press the volume up (+) button and press the power button
Release all buttons
The Steam Deck should power on and boot into the BIOS menu. When in storage mode, your Steam Deck will not respond to any actions when you press the power button. To exit storage mode, plug a charger into your Steam Deck.

Navigate to the Power menu
Select Battery storage mode
Select “Yes” to confirm.
Your Steam Deck should power off and enter battery storage mode.
In storage mode, your Steam Deck will not respond to any operation when you press the power button. To exit storage mode, plug a charger into your Steam Deck.
