Windows Resources
Steam Deck is a PC that can install other applications and operating systems. If you install Windows, you’ll need a few additional drivers for the best experience. These links, along with instructions on installing Windows on Steam Deck, can be found below.
We currently provide these resources, but unfortunately, we cannot provide “Windows on Deck” support. If you get stuck and need to revert to the default Steam Deck operating system, please follow these recovery instructions.
Windows Drivers
Steam Deck OLED
Important Note: For Bluetooth to work properly, you need to download the latest BIOS via SteamOS Beta Update 3.6.9 or later (do this before installing Windows)
APU Driver Unit
Click here to download and run setup.exe to install.
This driver is updated as of August 15, 2024.
SD Card Reader Driver
Click here to download and run setup.exe to install.
Wi-Fi Driver
Click here to download, right-click qcwlan64.inf, and select Install.
Bluetooth Driver
Click here to download, right-click qcbtuart.inf, and select Install.
Important Note: Requires users to install the latest BIOS via SteamOS Beta 3.6.9 or later (do this before installing Windows).
Note: Bluetooth audio is currently only output; microphone functionality is still under development.
Audio Driver
Download Driver 1/3 here, right-click cs35l41.inf, and select Install.
Download Driver 2/3 here, right-click NAU88L21.inf, and select Install.
Download Driver 3/3 here, right-click amdi2scodec.inf, and select Install.
In Windows 11, *.inf files will appear as “Installation Information” files.
Steam Deck LCD Screen
APU Driver—Download here, run setup.exe to install.
This driver is updated to November 17, 2023.
Wi-Fi driver – Download here and run install.bat to install.
Bluetooth driver – Download here and run installdriver.cmd to install.
SD card reader driver – Download here and run setup.exe to install.
Audio driver
Download driver 1/2, right-click cs35l41.inf, and select Install. (Last updated October 10, 2022)
Download driver 2/2, right-click NAU88L21.inf, and select Install.
These INF files will appear as “Setup Information” type files in File Explorer.
On Windows 11, right-click and select “Show more options” to see the “Install” option.
Don’t forget to download the updated APU driver above to support audio.
SteamOS dual-boot is not yet available
Installing Windows requires you to clear the Steam Deck, and dual-booting with SteamOS is currently not supported.
While the Steam Deck fully supports dual-booting, a SteamOS installer with a dual-boot wizard is not yet available. This system will be released along with SteamOS 3 once it is complete.
Notes on installing Windows:
To access the boot menu, turn off the power. Then, press and hold the volume down button and press the power button.
The installation will proceed in landscape mode on the Steam Deck screen. You can switch to landscape mode after installing Windows.
An internet connection is required to enter the product key during installation. Since there is currently no Wi-Fi driver, you will need a USB-C hub with an Ethernet port to access the internet.
For Windows 11, make sure you have the latest operating system update before installation (to obtain the latest BIOS that supports fTPM).
