The main unit powers on and charges normally, but there is no video/HDMI output when the dock is plugged in.
No video is displayed when the host is placed on the dock.
Diagnostic Steps: The first step is to try using a known good dock.
Check the USB-C port for any physical damage, such as bent pins, missing pins, or liquid damage. If you have a Mechanic T284 USB tester, you can compare the readings with the image on the right.
Check for short circuits around the M92T36 IC. This chip negotiates power through the USB-C port. Below is an image showing the capacitors for easier inspection.
The M92T32 capacitor needs to be checked.
Next, the choke coils near the PI3USB IC need to be checked. The choke coils must be connected in parallel continuously, but cannot cross each other.

Next, we’ll examine the PI3USB30532 integrated circuit. This component is crucial for USB-C data switching, including video output via HDMI from a docking station.
In most cases, the inability to output video while the console is powered on and charging is due to a burnt-out bottleneck or a faulty PI3USB30532 chip.
Repair Steps
The M92T36 and PI3USB30532 are widely available and relatively inexpensive.
The replacement process for both chips is similar. Desolder the old chip using a hot air gun, clean the old solder, add new solder to the pads, and then solder the integrated circuit using the hot air gun. Repair any loose connections with a soldering iron using a fine-tipped solder joint.
These chokes are easy to replace. Desolder them using your hot air gun, resolder the circuit board, and then solder a new choke. Be careful not to use too much airflow, or the choke may fly off.
Basic Display and Audio Tests: Connect the Switch to a reasonably good docking station using a high-quality HDMI cable and the official AC adapter.
Power on, dock, and check that the video on your TV/monitor is clear (no ghosting/flickering) and the audio is clear (no static/dropping).
Test with games to confirm stability.
Automatic resolution detection test:
Go to System Settings > TV Output > TV Resolution, and select Automatic.
Confirm that the automatic resolution detection is set to 1080p and test switching between (1080p, 720p, 480p).
Also check other functions of the main unit to ensure no new problems arise.
