The GameCube allows you to easily switch the language from Japanese to English by removing or installing a single resistor.
Open the console and inspect the bottom of the motherboard.
Remove the heatsink from the CPU.
On the edge of the CPU, near the screw holes for the CPU and AV connectors, there are two resistors, R5 and R6.
Resistors are divided into pull-up (R5, about 10k) and pull-down (R6, 0R).
When the LANG pin detects 3.3V, the GameCube is set to NTSC-J.
When the Sense detects 0V, the GameCube is set to NTSC-U.
As shown in the diagram above, since the LANG pin is not pulled down, R5 pulls it to 3.3V and sets it to Japanese NTSC-J.
To change it to English NTSC-U (United States), bridge R6.
