Fan not spinning
The first thing to try is replacing the fan, as fan failures are common in PS5s.
If the fan still doesn’t spin after replacing it, the problem lies with the motherboard.
This could be a simple issue, such as a damaged fan FPC (a common problem) or a southbridge failure.
If the FPC isn’t physically damaged, the next step is to compare the diode readings of the fan FPC with the image below.
The host computer is powered on and there is 12V voltage because the fan is powered by the main 12V power supply line. Without this line, the host computer cannot power on.
If there is no reading for the PWM signal, the cause may be a crack in the PCB layer, a faulty solder ball under the southbridge IC, or a faulty southbridge IC.
The fan’s PWM signal comes directly from the southbridge CXD90061GG or CXD90069GG.

If this line is short-circuited, the southbridge must be replaced.

Repair Steps
If the new fan works well, simply replace the fan.
If the FPC is ripped off, you must solder a new one. FPC anchors are often ripped off. The best solution is to use a solder core as a base.
If you need to replace the Southbridge: Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard.
Desolder the old Southbridge using a hot air station without nozzles (a board preheater is recommended).
While the motherboard is hot, clean the solder pads; be gentle to avoid damaging or scratching the PCB mask.
Currently, there are two types of Southbridges on the PS5: CXD90061GG and CXD90069GG.
When installing a new console, they must be matched (there are ways to install a 61GG on a 69GG, but this guide will not cover that).
Southbridges you buy online are usually resoldered, so make sure the new chip is soldered in place.
After soldering the new IC, try to clean the flux under the chip. Install the CMOS battery only after the motherboard has cooled down. If the fan or FPC is fixed, launch the game and check if the fan is working properly.
If you’ve replaced the Southbridge, try testing all the console’s functions.
